BTPD warns of burglaries to unlocked autos. 
Today the BTPD fielded several reports regarding overnight burglaries to unlocked motor vehicles. These incidents occurred in the Tree Streets and Bywater neighborhoods and the proceeds included loose change as well as GPS units.
We would like to remind and warn our residents that, especially during the warmer months, these types of burglaries and thefts are more common. Thieves prefer these soft targets as crimes of opportunity and a simple pull of the handle is all that it takes to determine if they are unlocked. We encourage everyone to be vigilant with securing their vehicles when not in use and to not leave valuables inside (to include spare keys which may lead to vehicle thefts).
In addition please report any/all suspicious persons and activity.
