SPD seeks support from the community for K-9 fund. See full press release for details.

The Sheboygan Police Department has had a K-9 program since 1989.  During that time, the K-9 Unit has proven to be an important tool utilized by the police to combat crime and build community relations.  The Sheboygan Police Department wishes to continue the success of the program but is seeking the assistance of the community to fund the effort.

In 2018, after diligently serving their community, K-9 Kramer retired with K-9 Bud scheduled to retire this upcoming fall.  The Sheboygan Police Department, through a generous donation, was able to welcome a new member, K-9 Max, in July of 2018.  In order to maintain current standards and outfit K-9 Max and his partner along with adding a second K-9 Unit this fall, the police department is seeking to raise $150,000.  These costs cover training, maintenance, medical attention and a vehicle which are not traditionally government funded.

"The department's K-9 program has been a contributing factor to the success of the Sheboygan Police Department", Capt. James Veeser, "whether it be deterring crime, finding missing persons or building community relations.  It is our hope to maintain that success with the support of the community."
The public can support the K-9 Fund by visiting https://www.gofundme.com/sheboygan-police-k-9-fund
or by selecting available sponsorship packages.  Information on both donor options is available on the Sheboygan Police Department website, www.sheboyganpolice.com and Sheboygan Police Department’s Facebook page.  Additional information can be obtained by contacting Sgt. Ryan Schmitt (920) 459-3333, ext. 5109 or by email at [email protected].

"The Sheboygan Police Department uses our canines as the communities best friends", Capt. James Veeser, "and our current K-9's continue to be an example of one of the ways we create a bridge between the police and the community.  The longstanding success of the K-9 program has proven that true."
