DUARTE WEEKLY CRIME BLOTTER July 8 - July 14, 2018

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of July 08– July 14, 2018
 
July 08, 2018

  •  A strong arm robbery was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  A Loss Prevention Officer attempted to detain an adult female outside the store for shoplifting, when she became uncooperative and a struggle ensued.  The suspect ran away, and was located by a responding deputy behind the Public Safety Office.  After a brief struggle with deputies, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.  The suspect was arrested for Robbery, Assault on a Peace Officer and resisting arrest.
 
  • A Grand Theft was reported at 1088 Huntington Drive (T-Mobile).  A male Hispanic adult entered the location and asked an employee to see an I-Phone.  The employee told the suspect they did not have the phone he wanted in stock, but would search nearby stores.  While checking nearby stores, the employee saw the suspect walk over to a display of I-phones, break the security locking sensor to an I-phone and run out of the store with the phone.

  • No significant activity.
 
July 10, 2018
  • A 2003 Audi A-4 was reported stolen from the 1500 block of Brycedale Avenue.  The vehicle was recovered two days later in the 2500 of Mountain Avenue.  No suspects in custody.
 
  • A 2009 Honda motorcycle was reported stolen in the 1400 block of Third Street.  The motorcycle is still outstanding.
 
  • A Vandalism was reported in the 1300 block of Evergreen Street.  Person(s) unknown spray painted graffiti on a city owned wall.  Removal of the graffiti was estimated to cost approximately $300.
 
  • A Vandalism was reported at 1401 Central Avenue (Duarte Sports Park).  Between July 5th and July 10th, person(s) unknown spray painted graffiti on a city utility box.  Removal of the graffiti was estimated to cost approximately $300.  
 
July 11, 2018
  • Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Buena Vista Street on a vehicle that returned with an outstanding warrant for the registered owner.  The driver of the vehicle was arrested on three outstanding warrants.  During the investigation, deputies recovered suspected methamphetamine from the vehicle and the driver was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance.   
 
July 12, 2018
  • No significant activity.   
 
July 13, 2018
 
  • Deputies responded to Buena Vista Street and Bloomdale Street (Duarte Sports Park), regarding an adult male walking in the field, screaming and yelling at the parents and their children.  Deputies immediately recognized the man was under the influence of narcotics and detained him.  After further investigation, he was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.    
 
  •  A Petty Theft was reported at the corner of Oak Avenue and Third Street.  Two wheels and tires were stolen from a Honda.  Loss was estimated at approximately $800.  
 
July 14, 2018
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the 2000 block of Buena Vista Street.  $500 in miscellaneous tools were stolen from a 2009 Toyota Rav-4.  Entry was made by shattering the rear driver’s side window.

  • Deputies arrested an adult female for robbery and resisting arrest, an adult female for battery and an adult female on an outstanding narcotics warrant.
 
July 9, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male for battery. 
 
July 10, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male on an outstanding narcotics warrant, an adult male for shoplifting and an adult male for possession of a controlled substance.
 
July 11, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male on an outstanding parole warrant, an adult male for possession of a controlled substance, an adult male for DUI, and an adult male on an outstanding narcotics warrant.    
 
July 12, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult female for drinking in public, an adult male on an outstanding prostitution warrant, an adult male on an outstanding traffic warrant, an adult female for petty theft, and an adult male for shoplifting.
July 13, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
 
July 14, 2018
  • No significant activity
