Press Release.  July 17th, 2018
At approximately 7:33 AM local time a single engine piston aircraft departed the Truckee Tahoe Airport headed east. The aircraft reported engine trouble and impacted the ground approximately 1 mile south east of the airport. The Truckee Tahoe Airport control tower initiated the aircraft emergency response protocol and notified medical and rescue personnel through the 911 system. Local Fire, EMS and law enforcement responded to the incident. 3 passengers confirmed and accounted for. 1 confirmed fatality and 2 critically injured, transported to local area hospitals.  The incident is currently under investigation by the FAA & Placer County Sheriffs office.
