July 9th

Shoplifting -Walgreen’s 11565 San Pablo Ave: At 1108 hours, an officer responded to the report of three suspects who were stealing merchandise from the store. They fled in a silver vehicle.

Petty Theft: 6060 Central Ave: An officer responded to the report of a license plate theft. On June 30th, in between 1200-1600 hours, an unidentified suspect stole the license plates from a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.

Shoplifter / Disorderly Conduct: 10650 San Pablo Ave. At 1149 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft. Upon arrival, the officer contacted a 34-year-old Oakland man in the parking lot. He was identified, placed under citizen’s arrest, and transported to the ECPD for booking.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Ganges St / Snowden Ave:
At 2010 hours, an officer recovered a 1990 Honda Accord which was reported stolen to the Berkeley PD on 7/6/18.

Auto vs. Pedestrian Collision – 1700 block Lexington Ave:
At 2018 hours, the driver of a vehicle was backing northbound on Lexington Street and hit the pedestrian who was crossing the street, causing the pedestrian to fall to the ground and hit her head. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Residential Burglary, Stolen Vehicle – 900 block King Drive:
Between 1930 and 2339 hours, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unsecured rear window, conducted a major ransack, and stole property to include the victim’s red 2005 Honda CRV.

Warrant – Carlson Blvd / San Diego Ave:
At 0402 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 26-year-old man from Arkansas on a fully extraditable warrant from Texas. He was booked at the ECPD and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Resist Officer – Conlon Ave / Kearney St:
At 0433 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and detained a 28-year-old man from Richmond. During the detention, the man pulled away and tried to run when the officer initiated his search. The man was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

July 10th

Heroin Possession: Cutting Blvd / S. 50th:
At 0822 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a 52-year-old Oakland man and discovered he was on parole. A parole search of his car revealed a balloon of heroin concealed in a juice bottle in the center console. He was arrested, booked, and then released.

Shoplifter - 1000 EC Plaza:
At 1135 hours, officers responded to the report of a shoplifter who was located in front of Ross by responding officers. A 23-year-old Oakland man was identified as the responsible and placed under citizen’s arrest. He was booked and released with a citation.

Petty Theft: IFO Trader Joes, 225 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1449 hours, an officer reports an unidentified suspect stole flowers from a pallet in front of the store. Store employees recovered the stolen flowers, and the suspect fled eastbound towards the BART path.

Stolen Vehicle – 2900 block of San Mateo St:
At 1450, an officer reported the theft of a 2017 Honda Accord after the victim left the keys in it. The theft occurred on the 9th and the vehicle was previously located in Richmond after being involved in a major collision.

July 11th

Warrant Arrest - 11565 San Pablo Ave: At 1657 hours, an officer contacted a 45-year-old Richmond woman who was wanted on a warrant. She was arrested, booked, and then transported to the MDF. She was also found to be in possession of a counterfeit identification card.

Residential Burglary – 7300 block Terrace Drive:
Between 0930 and 1630 hours, an unknown suspect forced open the front door using some type of prying instrument. Once inside, the suspect conducted a major ransack, and stole various items.

Shoplifting – Sketchers, 5815 Cutting Blvd:
At 1802 hours, a 36-year-old man stole boots from Sketchers. The manager followed the man to McDonald’s where he was detained and placed under citizen’s arrest. He was booked at the ECPD and then released on a citation.

DUI, Driving While Suspended for DUI – Eastshore Blvd / San Pablo Ave:
At 1950 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 60-year-old woman for DUI. Her driver license was also suspended due to a previous DUI. She was booked at the ECPD and then released on a citation.

Battery – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 2118 hours, a security guard attempted to detain a man he suspected of shoplifting. A shoving match ensued which ended when the security guard pepper spraying the man.

July 12th

Residential Burglary, Carry Concealed Firearm – 6100 block Potrero Ave:
At 1925 hours, officers responded to an unwanted subject and detained a 23-year-old man from Berkeley in front of the residence. The suspect used to live at the residence but was evicted in March 2018 and a new tenant has since moved in. The suspect was detained in front of the residence near the victim’s vehicle and was also in possession of a key to the victim’s car. The suspect had a handgun concealed in his waistband and a suitcase filled with the victim’s property. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Domestic Violence – Popeye’s, 10175 San Pablo Ave:
At 2101 hours, officers responded to a battery. The suspect and victim have been dating and living together off and on for three years. This evening, they got into an argument, and the 53-year-old male suspect shoved the victim to the ground, broke her glasses, and then choked her. The suspect fled south on San Pablo Ave prior to police arrival.

Auto Burglary – Nations, 6060 Central Ave:
Between 2130 and 2230 hours, an unknown suspect broke the window to the victim’s SUV and stole two backpacks.

July 13th

Stolen Vehicle – 5700 Block of Charles Avenue:
At 0652 hours, an officer reports that the victim’s green 1997 Honda Civic was taken from in front of his residence between 7/12 at 1900 hours and 7/13 0640 hours.

Embezzlement – 10650 San Pablo Avenue (CVS):
At 0929 hours, an officer responded to the business where corporate loss prevention investigated an employee regarding internal theft. The subject refused to admit to the theft and was placed under citizen’s arrest.

Residential Burglary – 1600 Block of Elm Street:
At 1030 hours, officers responded to a residential burglary where the homeowner had confronted the suspect as they were exiting the property via the side yard. The point of entry was a window in the rear of the home, and the loss was miscellaneous jewelry. The victim later learned some of their credit cards were used in several locations in Vallejo.

Grand Theft – 1800 Elm Street (Summit K2 School):
At 1330 hours, a CSO reports that the yearbook fund ($2K) was taken from the desk of a school secretary between June 27 and June 29.

Shoplifting – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 1452 hours, an officer reports an unidentified suspect selected $150 worth of alcohol and fled without paying.

Warrant Arrest – 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 2203 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and subsequently arrested a 48-year-old male from Vacaville for an outstanding warrant. The male was booked and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 14th

Auto Burglary – 800 Block of Lexington Avenue:
At 0706 hours, an officer reports an unidentified suspect broke the passenger window of the victim’s Toyota Rav4 and the passenger window of a Honda Fit. The theft took place between 7/13 at 2230 hours and 7/14 at 0400 hours.

Vandalism –5300 Block of School Avenue:
At 0829 hours, an officer reports an unidentified suspect broke the front passenger window of the victim’s Ford Focus vehicle. There was no loss identified from inside the car. The theft took place between 0200 and 0800 hours on the 14th.

Auto Burglary – 11700 Block of San Pablo Avenue:
At 0843 hours, an Officer reports that an unidentified suspect broke the front passenger window of the victim’s Toyota Rav4 and stole cash from the vehicle’s glove box.

The theft occurred between 7/13 at 2100 hours to 7/14 at 0830 hours.
Auto Burglary – 11700 San Pablo Avenue:
At 0926 hours, an officer reports an unidentified suspect broke the window of the victim’s Honda Fit and ransacked the interior of the vehicle (No monetary loss).The theft took place between 7/13 at 2000 hours and 7/14 at 0926 hours.

Auto Burglary – 5020 El Cerrito Plaza (Panda Express):
At 0926 hours, an officer reports an unidentified suspect broke the front passenger window of the victim’s Nissan Rogue and removed a backpack containing miscellaneous clothing. The theft occurred on the 14th between 1200 and 1300 hours.

Possession of Prescription Pills – 400 block of Liberty Street:
At 1806 hours, officers were dispatched to a possible robbery. Officers arrived on scene and located the involved parties and determined it was a drug deal gone awry. One of the subjects was found to be in possession of prescription pills without a prescription. The male, an 18-year old from Berkeley, was booked and then released on a citation.

July 16th

Vandalism – 11700 block of San Pablo Avenue:
At 0619 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect used an unidentified object to damage the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was scratched 360* and both front headlights were smashed. The incident occurred between 7/15 at 2100 hours and 7/16 at 0520 hours.

Auto Burglary – 3030 El Cerrito Plaza (Sprint):
At 1021 hours, an officer reports a suspect shattered the rear window of the victim’s vehicle and stole property.

Shoplifting – 10650 San Pablo Avenue (CVS):
At 1444 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect selected several personal hygiene products and threw some of the selected items at staff and ran out of the store. The theft occurred on the 16th at 1438 hours.

July 15th

Warrant Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Avenue (Safeway):
At 2051 hours, an officer spotted a 41-year-old male who had two outstanding arrest warrants. The officer contacted the male and took him into custody. The male was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Possession of a concealed firearm/ in public, Possession of a controlled substance(s), Possession of an illegal magazine – S.56th Street and Madison Ave:
At 0140 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 30-year-old male from Richmond, for being in possession of a loaded pistol, illegal magazine, and controlled substances. The male was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 16th

Attempted Robbery – 11511 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2038 hours, an officer reports two subjects entered the business and approached the cash register. One suspect was carrying a white bag, and the other was armed with a firearm. The suspect walked an employee back to the safe and demanded property. The employee entered the wrong code causing the safe’s failsafe to activate. The suspects left the store in an awaiting vehicle and fled the area with no property.
