A Santa Rosa man suffered injuries after being attacked by an unknown assailant yesterday morning. Deputies were dispatched to Sutter Hospital shortly before 2:00 AM Sunday where they contacted the victim. The 59-year-old man told deputies he was returning home in the 3500 block of Piner Road at about 1:30 AM. As he pulled into his dirt driveway leading to his home he noticed a white sedan blocking the entrance and trash scattered about the side of the road. The car, possibly a Toyota Camry, was occupied by a man and a woman.
The victim told the man, who was described as Caucasian, blonde hair, 5-11, 240 with a muscular build, to pick up his garbage. While the man went to pick up the garbage, the victim started to write down the man’s license plate. The man went to the victim and started punching him with his fists. The victim fell to the ground at which point the suspect pulled his shirt off of him. The suspect continued to kick the victim multiple times and struck him with his belt. The suspect then went to the victim’s truck and rifled through it, taking the victim’s cellular phone and throwing it over a fence.
Finding nothing else of value in the truck, the suspect told the victim to give him some money. The victim gave him a small amount of cash he had in his wallet. The suspect got into his sedan and drove away eastbound towards Santa Rosa.
The victim suffered multiple abrasion and contusions but was later released from the hospital. The woman in the car remained in the car during the attack and was only described as having brown hair. The age of the suspect is unclear at this time, however detectives are asking that if anyone has video surveillance in that area that may have captured the suspect vehicle at that time of morning, or if anyone has any leads to please call them at 565-2185.
