Two Car Hit and Run Crash

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports his office investigated a two car Hit and Run accident on Dailey Rd near Hospital St, Jefferson Twp, Cass County, Michigan. This crash occurred on 07-14-2018 at approx. 0056 hrs.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene after a north bound vehicle crossed the center line and struck a south bound vehicle operated by William Neff, 51 Yrs of Osceola, IN. Neff and his passenger, Ruth Neff, 51 yrs of Osceola, IN were treated on scene by ambulance personnel. The driver of the north bound vehicle, which was a blue 2012 Jeep Wrangler, fled the crash and the Dowagiac K-9 team, Ofc Roman and K-9 Tole were called in to track the driver. After an exhaustive search through corn fields and surrounding woods, the track was called off without locating the driver.

Alcohol is an unknown factor in the crash at this time. Seatbelts were worn and airbags deployed in the Neff's vehicle.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Cass Central Fire Department, Life Care Ambulance, Cassopolis Police Department and Dowagiac Police Department K-9 Unit.
