SUBJECT: Assault with a deadly weapon, participation in a criminal street gang-suspect arrested.

On Saturday, June 30, 2018 at approximately 2:00 AM a 23 year-old Redwood City man and a 24 year-old San Mateo man entered the 7-11 Store at 460 Woodside Road, Redwood City to make a purchase.

Once inside the store they were confronted by two suspects, Justin Guidici (24) and Abran Gutierrez (32), both of Redwood City. Guidici and Gutierrez made threatening comments towards the two victims and yelled gang slurs. The suspects lured the victims outside where they subsequently attacked them. One victim was stabbed during the assault. Redwood City Police Department Patrol Officers arrived at the scene, detained Guidici and provided immediate medical assistance to the two victims. Gutierrez fled the scene as responding officers arrived and remains at-large.

Guidici was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for various charges including felony assault with a deadly weapon and for participation in a criminal street gang.

The stabbing victim received a significant injury to his torso and required emergency surgery at an area hospital. He survived the ordeal and is recovering.

On Wednesday, July 5, 2018, Detectives from the Redwood City Police Department’s Street Crimes Suppression Team authored search and arrest warrants for both suspects and their places of residence. Guidici, who earlier was released on bail, was re-arrested for the warrant. A search of his residence revealed illegal fireworks and illegal narcotics. Guidici was again booked into the San Mateo County Jail for the arrest warrant, felony possession of illegal fireworks, possession of cocaine and methamphetamine and for committing a crime while on bail.

Suspect Abran Gutierrez was not apprehended and remains at-large.

Anyone with information regarding Gutierrez’ whereabouts is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Perna at 650-780-7672 or the Redwood City Police Department’s Tip Line at 650-780-7110.
