Hit & Run Crash Results in Felony OWI Arrest
On July 13, 2018 at 2:21 AM, the Middleton Police Department investigated a hit and run accident that occurred in the 5100 block of Torino Court. Upon arriving, officers discovered that the suspect had struck two unoccupied parked cars in the parking lot of his apartment complex and fled the scene on foot. The driver of the vehicle was located a short time later inside his nearby apartment and identified as Joshua A. Knihtila, age 38, of Middleton. Knihtila initially denied involvement in the accident, however, his vehicle had fresh damage consistent with the crash.
Officers noted a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Knihtila’s breath and his speech was slurred. Following field sobriety testing, Knihtila was arrested for 4th offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), a felony. Knihtila was booked into the Dane County Jail for the felony OWI and was also ticketed for hit and run.
