Give your bike an identity. Bike licensing is the best way to identify & return a lost or stolen bike!

Did you know that City Ordinance 118-471 requires every bicycle with wheels 20” or larger to be registered with the Sheboygan Police Department, and have a registration sticker attached to the bicycle?  Bicycle registrations are the best way to identify an owner of a bicycle if it is lost or stolen.

In 2017, over 150 bicycles were sold or donated because they were recovered around the City and went unclaimed. While licensing is available from retailers selling bicycles in Sheboygan, there is often a need to license bikes that might have been purchased elsewhere.  The Sheboygan Police Department can sell a bicycle license and register your bike for you at the police department.

Bicycle License Sales will take place on Saturday between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm.  Registrations will take place every Saturday for the rest of the summer.  Feel free to bring your bikes and pull into our bicycle licensing sales table.  There, our Police Explorers will record the registration information for your bicycle and issue a registration tag to be placed on your bike.

Registration is $6.00 per bicycle. Transfer of an existing registration to a new owner is $2.00. This is a one time purchase. The registration is valid for the life of the bike.

Please help us protect your purchase by registering your bicycle.  Bicycle thefts occur often, especially during this time of the year.  Having a registration on file is the simplest way to help your property get returned to you.

Thank you!
