Two Car Crash Ending in a Pursuit

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke of the Cass County Sheriff's Office, reports that on 07/11/2018 at approximately 1941 hours deputies were called to investigate a personal injury traffic crash that occurred on US-12 near Conrad Rd in Milton Township, Cass County Michigan. Two vehicles were involved in this crash, and it was found to be a rear end collision, which no one was seriously injured. One of the drivers a David Eugene Dale (47 yr old Niles, MI resident) was not injured in this crash.The other driver, a 26 yr old Niles, MI resident drove away from the scene when officers arrived. Police pursued this driver until the vehicle crashed on Dailey Rd near Jefferson Center Rd. The driver was placed under arrest. The suspect was transported by LifeCare ambulance to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for possible injuries. It is unknown if seatbelts were worn during this crash. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash. This incident is still under investigation at this time. The second drivers name is being withheld at this time pending results of the investigation.
