Clayton County Suspected Serial Rapist 2015 – 2017

Clayton County, Georgia

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The most recent attempted rape case has NOT been confirmed to be linked to the five rape

cases mentioned in this press release.

As it pertains to the concerns of our citizens, the Clayton County Police Department and Clayton County Sheriff’s Office are still actively seeking the suspect responsible for the rapes as it is deemed an issue of public safety to have him still at large. Both agencies have increased patrols throughout Clayton County and urge citizens to remain vigilant as they go about their day.

CCPD and CCSO are urging citizens take the necessary steps to ensure that entry points to their homes (windows and doors) are locked on a consistent basis. We also suggest that citizens remain mindful of their surrounding especially as they are traveling alone and at odd hours of night/day. All persons are encouraged to remain alert, but the only consistent actions of the rapist is that he seems to target black females in multi-family dwelling locations such as townhomes and apartment complexes.

DETAILS PREVIOUSLY RELEASED:

The Clayton County Police Department is actively working to locate and identify a male who has been linked by DNA evidence to five rape cases that occurred between July 2015 and May 2017. Detectives were working the cases separately until evidence returned from the GBI confirming that the suspect in the cases were the same.

The modus of operandi (MO) in each case did not lead detectives to believe that the cases were linked as the suspect did not utilize the same methodology to gain entry or intimidate the victims.

The MOs used in each case are as follows:

• Gained entry through an unsecure/open window.

• Accosted victim outside as she was walking to her apartment.

• Forced his way into the apartment when the victim opened the door slightly after he

knocked on the door and asked for an unknown female.

• Brandished a knife. (1 case)

• Brandished a gun. (1 case)

In all of the cases, the suspect sought African-American female victims who lived in communities comprised of multi-family dwellings (apartment complexes & townhomes). One rape occurred at a single-family home.

The general location of the rapes are as follows:

• Chaselake Drive

• Roberts Drive

• Southlake Cove Court

• Brookview Drive

• Wynfield Drive

Two victims were able to provide enough information for a sketch to be drawn. (See attached.)

We are asking that all citizens remain alert and ensure that their homes are secure (lock doors and windows). Anyone who is able to provide information pertaining to the identity of the person in the sketch is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
