The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Southeastern McDowell County in western North Carolina...
Central Rutherford County in western North Carolina...
Polk County in western North Carolina...

* Until 200 PM EDT.

* At 118 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 4 miles northeast
of Marion, or near Lake James State Park, moving southwest at 40
mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind
damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include...
Marion, Rutherfordton, Spindale, Green Hill, Mill Spring, Thermal
City, Pleasant Gardens, Glenwood, Lake Adger and Union Mills.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Scattered trees and power lines will be blown down in the warned
area. Seek shelter inside an interior room.
