Car vs. Pedestrian Fatal Cass County Mi.


Sheriff Richard J Behnke reports that on 07/05/2018 at 1033 hours, his office was called to investigate a car vs pedestrian crash on M 40 Hwy near Spatterdock Lk St, in Porter Township, Cass County Michigan. 76 yr old, Three Rivers resident, Shirley Boersma, was walking across the highway of M 40, when she was struck by a vehicle driven by, 77 yr old, Jenison resident, Dale Hoekwater. The vehicle was traveling south bound on M 40 when the crash happened. Mrs. Boersma died as a result of her injuries, at the scene of the crash. Personnel that assisted the Sheriff’s Office were Newberg Fire and Ambulance, Life Care Ambulance, and Med Flight. This crash is still under investigation and alcohol was not a factor.
