As of this earlier morning, WW Director of Fire & Emergency Services/OEM Coordinator Yates & Lt. Lee have conferred with Chief Garofalo in regards to the ongoing cleanup efforts as well as road closures in the areas affected by last evening's weather event. Berrien City, Sherbrooke Estates, Old Mill Farms, Princeton Ivy East, and Benford Estates appeared to have taken the brunt of the very quick moving storm.
Chief Garofalo wanted to express to everyone how, without warning, how quickly our Off Duty Officers responded in to help our community during a time of immediate need. Our Communications Center fielded an incredible volume of calls during the holiday evening rush hour with the utmost skill & professionalism while determining the priority order of calls for service (which is no easy task). Chief Garofalo indicated how proud he is of all the men & women of WWPD especially given the fact many of which altered their holiday plans with their families while they served our community.
Dispatcher Quinn has provided the below listed link that will provide up to date "real time" mapping of our current roadways that are closed. The link constantly updates as areas become clear. Work crews have been continuing to work on re-opening all roadways and are requesting patience considering the size of the cleanup at hand.
