On June 9th at 10:30 pm the Fairfield Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 600 block of E. Travis Bl regarding a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers located a 39-year old male victim who had been shot and subsequently died. Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
Through the investigation, it was learned that the victim, Melvin Moore, had been in an argument with a male in the parking lot of the apartment complex just prior to the shooting. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Keith Coon, a 33-year old Fairfield resident. Coon was later located in San Pablo, California and with the assistance of the San Pablo Police Department was taken into custody on June 27, 2018.
