A hit & run collision leaves a 28 yr old man with major injuries; deputies looking for info on ID of suspect driver

DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 30, 2018 at about 11:30 p.m.

INCIDENT: Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision / Major Injury

LOCATION: Sterling Avenue / Baseline Street, City of Highland

SUSPECT(S): Unknown

VICTIM: Withheld; 28 year old male, resident of San Bernardino.


SUMMARY:
On Saturday, June 30, 2018, around 11:30 p.m., deputies assigned to the Highland Police Department responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Sterling Avenue and Baseline Street. Deputies learned a pedestrian was crossing Sterling Avenue and was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle made no attempt to render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with major injuries and is in critical condition.

Investigators from the Sheriff's Department Region I Major Accident Investigation Team were called to the scene to investigate. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
