DETAILS: At 11:05 pm on Friday June 29, 2018, Patrol Units responded to a Serious Motor Vehicle Crash on US Route 1 South in the area of the Market Fair where the following was determined: a 1990 Honda CBR motorcycle with one additional passenger was traveling on US Route 1 South in the area of roadway construction (milling & paving). The operator lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. The crash caused the female passenger to be thrown from the motorcycle. The operator and passenger both sustained injuries. Following the crash, the female passenger remained standing in the roadway. A 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis traveling South on US Route 1 struck the female passenger. Initial responding Patrol Officers performed lifesaving measures on the severely injured female. WW EMS and MICU continued to attend to the female passenger and transported her to Capital Health Systems Fuld Trauma Center. However, the female passenger succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at Capital Health Systems Fuld Trauma Center. The operator of the Grand Marquis reported no injuries. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to Capital Health Systems Fuld Trauma Center.
US Route 1 South was closed in the area of the crash for approximately (4) hours. The entire incident is still under the investigation of the Mercer County Prosecutors Office SCRT, the WWPD Traffic & Detective Bureaus.
