Sunday, June 17, 2018
Petty Theft

Location: 2700 Block of Homestead Road
An unknown male suspect entered a business on the 2700 block of Homestead Road, filled two hand baskets full of bottles of liquor and exited the store without paying. The merchandise is valued at approximately $400. The suspect then got into a vehicle waiting in front of the business, driven by another unknown individual, and fled the scene. The suspects remain at large.

Monday, June 18, 2018
Citation

Location: 2800 Block of Augustine Drive
An officer was patrolling the parking lot of a business on the 2800 block of Augustine Drive. While doing so, the officer located an occupied Honda with a license plate registered to a Ford. The officer contacted the male suspect who admitted he put the false license plate on the vehicle to avoid being pulled over for expired registration. The suspect was issued a citation.

Weapons

Location: 5100 Block of Stars and Stripes Drive
An officer responded to an alarm activation on the 5100 block of Stars and Stripes Drive.
Upon arrival, the responding officers located a male subject while checking the premises. The subject was collecting recycling on the premises and denied breaking into the building. He displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
A Records check revealed he is a convicted felon. A search of his person yielded a controlled substance and a canister of pepper spray. He was arrested.

Wednesday, June 20, 2018
Prowler

Location: Benton Street and Sherman Street
An officer was deployed after receiving a report from Santa Clara University (SCU) Campus Security of a male suspect trying to kick in a door of a SCU owned building at Franklin Street and Sherman Street.
Campus Security attempted to make contact with the suspect, however the suspect ran away and jumped a fence into the yard of a nearby home. The home is SCU property. The suspect continued to jump fences of several SCU residences and Campus Security provided Public Safety Dispatchers with updates. An officer located the suspect at the intersection of Benton Street and Alviso Street. The suspect displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication and did not comply with officer orders. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Thursday, June 21, 2018
Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Location: Homestead Road and Kiely Boulevard
At approximately 2319 hours, a passerby reported an injured individual in the number two lane of Kiely Boulevard, near Pavilion Picnic area in Central Park.
A group confronted two victims in the park. Victim #1 was stabbed and received moderate non-life threatening injuries. Victim #2 was punched one time in the head and did not sustain any serious injury as a result. Victim #1 was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Responding officers established a perimeter around Central Park. The officers interviewed several subjects in the area. Officers identified the crime scene, established a command post and canvassed the park for additional suspects with negative results.
This case has been assigned to SCPD’s robbery and homicide detective. Every viable lead is being pursued.

Petty Theft

Location: 3400 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard
An unknown male suspect stole approximately $200-$300 of clothing from a business on the 3400 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. The suspect fled the scene in an occupied waiting vehicle. It was later determined the vehicle was stolen out of San Jose. The suspects remain at large.

Saturday, June 23, 2018
Attempted Murder

Location: 700 Block of Jill Avenue
Officers responded to the 700 block of Jill Avenue on the report of dispute over the volume of a radio.
Upon arrival, the responding officer learned the victim is a long-term tenant of the suspect. An argument turned physical, including hitting and strangulation. The suspect also verbally threatened to kill the victim and the dogs at the residence. The victim eventually escaped and was able to have a neighbor call Public Safety Dispatchers.
The victim was transported to a local hospital. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

1. Recognize abuse – physical, emotional, financial, sexual
2. Get help – National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-7233 or 9-1-1 in an emergency
3. Do not excuse of dismiss abusive behavior
4. Document the abuse – record audio or take photographs
5. Make a safety plan – phone numbers, code words, hide an extra car/house key, etc., and be sure to include children and pets
6. Hide an overnight bag – medications, identification, important paperwork, toiletries, clothes, pre-paid cell phone, etc.
7. Do not wait - end the relationship as soon as possible and move to a safe place
8. Leave your cell phone behind – this way you cannot be tracked
9. Get a Personal Protection Order for legal protection against your abuser
10. Change your locks and passwords; consider a P.O. Box
11. Block the abuser on your phone, email and social media
12. File formal charges, as appropriate
13. Seek therapy and/or attend a domestic violence support group
14. Try not to rush into a new relationship
