June 11th

Warrant – 17820 San Pablo Ave:
At 0741 hours, an officer responded to an unwanted subject and arrested a 48-year-old male transient on a parole violation warrant. He was booked at the ECPD and then transported to Martinez Detention Facility

Possession of a Controlled Substance, Paraphernalia, and Warrant Arrest – 11700 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1843 hours, officers responded to a report of male lighting items on fire. Officers arrived in the area and located a 28-year-old male from Richmond who had a warrant for his arrest. A search of the male revealed he was in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The male was booked at the ECPD and then taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Robbery – S. 55th St and Cypress Ave:
At 2151 hours, an officer reports the victim was walking when she was approached by two males who grabbed her bags and forcefully removed them from her possession. The victim was dragged several feet while the suspects attempted to take the bags. The suspects took the victim’s bags and fled to an awaiting vehicle.

DUI and Collision – Moeser Land and Richmond St:
At 0011 hours, officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed but lost sight of the vehicle. Moments later, officers located the vehicle after it collided with a tree. The driver, a 20-year-old male from El Cerrito, was not injured but was suspected of being under the influence. The male completed a series of field sobriety tests, and it was determined he was DUI. The male was booked and then released to a sober friend.

June 12th

Burglary – 1700 block Liberty Street:
Between 6/11/18 at 1530 hours and 6/12/18 at 1110 hours, an unknown suspect used a pry tool to force entry into the laundry room.

Possess Controlled Substance and Possess Drug Paraphernalia – 11965 San Pablo Ave:
At 1251 hours, an officer conducted a security check of the old Taco Bell and located a 43-year-old man from Oakland on the BART Trail behind the old trash enclosure wall. Sitting next to the man in plain view was a small bag of crack cocaine and a crack pipe. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then released on a citation.

Auto Burglary – 10500 block San Pablo Ave:
Between 1300 and 1500 hours, an unknown suspect broke the left rear window of the victim vehicle and stole a backpack which contained an iPad, Digital SLR camera, and prescription glasses.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave and Macdonald Ave:
At 1857 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 50-year-old female from Richmond, for being in possession of a controlled substance. The female was booked and then released on a citation.

June 13th

Stolen Vehicle – 7700 block Errol Dr:
Between 6/12/18 at 2000 hours at 6/13/18 at 0600 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s silver 2017 Subaru Forrester. The valet key was left in the vehicle.

Shoplifting and Trespassing – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0801 hours, an officer responded to an unwanted subject who was stealing. The suspect, a 45-year-old male from San Francisco was located near Ross and detained. He was positively identified as the suspect during an infield show-up and was still in possession of the property. The man has been admonished approximately four times in the last month not to go to Safeway. He was also identified as the suspect in a battery at Safeway on 6/1/18 when he spat on an employee. The man was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked at the ECPD, and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Public Intoxication – 400 block Kearney St:
At 1237 hours, an officer responded to a man down and located a heavily intoxicated 33-year-old man who was unable to care for himself. He was arrested and transported directly to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered, Possess Controlled Substance, and Warrant – S. 49th Street / Potrero Ave:
At 1425 hours, officers were dispatched to a LoJack alert in the 5200 block of Ernest Ave. The vehicle was located occupied on S. 49th Street and Potrero Ave where a 34-year-old male from San Pablo was arrested. The man was in possession of methamphetamine and wanted on a San Mateo County warrant. He was booked at the ECPD and then transport to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting – Luckys, 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1523 hours, an officer was at Lucky taking a theft report when he was alerted to another theft in progress. A 25-year-old man from Pennsylvania left the store with approximately $75 in shrimp. He was detained and placed under citizen’s arrest. He was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

Vandalism – 6700 block of Fairmount Ave:
At 0233 hours, an officer was flagged down by a citizen who advised his friend’s vehicle was broken into. Officers searched the area and located a 29-year-old male from Tennessee nearby. The man was identified by the witness and placed under citizen’s arrest. There was nothing taken from the vehicle so the male was booked for vandalism and then released on a citation.

June 14th

Residential Burglary – 2500 block Tamalpais Ave:
At 1042 hours, officers responded to a suspicious circumstance. A neighbor reported seeing three males moving quickly from the front of the house and fleeing in a dark grey vehicle. Officers arrived and found the front door forced open, and the house ransacked.

Residential Burglary – 800 block Craft Ave:
Between 6/10/18 at 1900 hours and 6/14/18 at 1130 hours, an unknown suspect broke a small window in one of the doors to the house. Fortunately, the deadbolt required a key to unlock it from the inside, so entry was not made into the main house. The suspect then went to the detached garage which was unlocked and stole a Persian rug and a runner.

Weapon Violation and Possession Stolen Property – Big 5, 11060 San Pablo Ave:
At 1236 hours, an officer responded to two suspicious persons in the parking lot trying to scam people. He arrived and contacted a 23- year-old male from Richmond and a 22-year-old female from Richmond. They were in the parking lot trying to swindle the driver of an unrelated vehicle out of cash after they claimed she hit the male. It was determined the female just purchased 9mm ammo. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun with an extended magazine concealed in the center console. The gun was reported stolen to Emeryville PD in 2016. The male and female booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Possession of a Controlled Substance and Paraphernalia – Kearney St and Wall Ave:
At 1859 hours, an officer observed a 41-year-old male injecting a substance into his arm. It was determined the substance was heroin. The male was booked and released on a citation.

June 15th

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 11881 San Pablo Ave (Starbucks)
At 2021 hours, an officer responded to a call of a male who was smoking drugs and acting erratic. The officer contacted a 28-year-old transient man who was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The man threw the paraphernalia when the officer contacted him. The man was subsequently arrested and later released with a citation.

June 16th

Warrant Arrest – Cutting Blvd at S. 50th St.
At approximately 1644 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the passenger, a 21-year-old female from Vallejo, on a traffic warrant out of Santa Clara County. The female was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released on a citation.

Warrant Arrest – Kearney St / Manila Ave
At 1837 hours, an officer arrested a 43-year-old Richmond man on an outstanding warrant. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway)
At 2030 hours, an officer arrested a 46-year-old Richmond man on an outstanding warrant. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – Humboldt St / Key Blvd
At 2046 hours, an officer located a stolen Honda Accord which had been reported to the Richmond Police Department on June 15th.

Residential Burglary – 600 block of Albemarle St
At 1800 hours, an officer reports that two known suspects entered a home through an unlocked window and stole property totaling $5000.

Auto Burglary – 8000 El Cerrito Plaza (Macaroni Grill)
At 2219 hours, an officer reports the window of the victim’s Ford Focus was smashed, and a bag containing $1000 in property was removed.

Drunk in Public - 6060 Central Ave (Nations)
At 2308 hours, an officer contacted a 37-year-old Richmond man and determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself. The man was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

DUI – Kearney St / Madison Ave
At 0145 hours, an officer contacted a 44-year-old San Pablo man asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle. The vehicle was parked on a curb with the keys in the ignition, and the headlights turned on. The man was arrested for DUI and later released with a citation from the El Cerrito Police Department.

June 17th

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave at Cutting Blvd.
At approximately 1628 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 35-year-old male from Richmond on a Contra Costa County DUI warrant. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Warrant Arrest, Identity Theft – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens)
At 2119 hours, an officer arrested a 37-year-old Stockton woman for an outstanding San Joaquin County warrant. The woman provided a false name to the officer and was also in possession of personal identifying information that did not belong to her. The woman was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle, Hit, and Run Collision – 7900 block of Terrace Dr
At 2336 hours, an officer responded to a report of a Honda Accord which had collided with a tree. The vehicle was determined to be an unreported stolen vehicle from Berkeley.

High Capacity Magazine – El Cerrito Police Department
At 0036 hours, an officer was flagged down by a 23-year-old El Cerrito man who was asking for directions. While speaking with the man, the officer observed the man quickly thrown an item under his car seat. A search of the vehicle revealed a high capacity firearm magazine (31 rounds) but no firearm. The man was arrested and later released with a citation.

Failure to Pay – 11344 San Pablo Ave (Dennys)
At 0227 hours, an officer responded to the restaurant where he contacted a 39-year-old transient man. The man had consumed a meal but was unable to pay. The man was placed under citizen’s arrest and later released with a citation from the El Cerrito Police Department.

June 18th

Resisting Arrest, Possession of Burglary Tools, Probation Violation - Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 0707 hours, an officer was dispatched to Safeway on the report of a suspect attempting to open storage cabinets with pliers. The officer contacted a 58-year-old male from Richmond in front of the store. During the contact, the male fled on foot through the parking lot. After a brief foot pursuit, the male was taken into custody. The male was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Residential Burglary – 2500 block of Carquinez Ave. –
At approximately 1602 hours, officers responded to an interrupted burglary that just occurred. The victim found the suspect in her downstairs basement laundry room. The suspect fled on foot northbound on Carquinez Ave towards Barrett Ave.

Auto Burglary – 8000 El Cerrito Plaza (Macaroni Grill)
At 1929 hours, an officer reports that an unknown suspect broke the window of the victim’s vehicle and removed a bag containing electronics. The crime occurred between 1730 hours and 1929 hours.

Residential Burglary – 2300 block of Alva Avenue:
At 2126 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the residence through a dog door in the rear of the home and stole numerous items.

Stolen Vehicle – Stockton Ave / Galvin Dr
At 2229 hours, an officer reported the theft of the victim’s 1998 Honda Civic sometime between midnight.
