On June 26, 2018, at 4:01 a.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a 911 report of a disturbance in the 12000 block of East County Road 100 South. Upon arriving Sergeant John Fischer conducted an investigation with the assistance of Deputy Loren Barchett and Oakland City Police Officer Alec Hensley. At the conclusion of the investigation 37 year old Jeremy Newton of Oakland City was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the jail Mr. Newton was charged with Battery in the presence of a child. He remains in custody on a $750 bond.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
