Armed Robbery - Pursuit - Four Arrested - Calaveras County

(SAN ANDREAS, CA) On 6/24/18 at approx. 1847 hours the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an armed robbery that occurred just outside of Murphys, California. The caller reported being robbed at gun point by multiple black and “middle eastern” males and that multiple vehicles were involved in the robbery. The victims reported that cash, marijuana, an automobile (white van), and expensive personal property were taken during the robbery.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office put out a “Be on the Lookout” broadcast for the suspects and vehicles over the radio system. A Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the Valley Springs area located a group of vehicles matching the description travelling westbound on Highway 12 just outside of Valley Springs, California. The Deputy Sheriff initiated a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle which was a black Range Rover. The vehicle took off and a pursuit began. A California Highway Patrol Officer joined in the pursuit. The pursuit travelled westbound on Highway 12 near Double Springs Rd. During the pursuit for unknown reasons one occupant, an unknown black male adult, exited the vehicle while it was still travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued off of highway 12 where it collided with some small trees and a fence. Two additional black male subjects took off running from the vehicle after it stopped. Both medics and fire were called to the scene. This was due to severe injuries located on the first subject who initially exited the vehicle while it was travelling at a high rate of speed. This first black male subject was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of death at this time is undetermined pending autopsy results. Evidence of the robbery was located near the subject’s body on the side of the highway.

The Sheriff’s Office, CHP and the Angels Camp Police Department set up a perimeter and an ACPD K-9 was called to the scene to locate the two additional black males that had fled on foot.

During this same time additional Sheriff’s Deputies were responding to the scene and located the white van (that was taken from one of the robbery victims) travelling in front of the suspect’s black Range Rover. Deputies stopped the white van and arrested two additional black males. A large amount of evidence was located in the van tying these suspects to the robbery.

Deputy Sheriffs and an Angels Camp Police Officer with K-9 partner “Thor” searched an area covered with brush near where the pursuit had terminated. K-9 Thor located the two suspects and they were apprehended. These were the two suspects who fled from the black Range Rover.

Sheriff’s Detectives and a Crime Scene Specialist were called to multiple scenes in Murphys, San Andreas (hospital) and Valley Springs. The CHP MAIT Team also responded to the Highway 12 scene near Valley Springs. Investigators worked multiple scenes throughout the night.

At the time of this press release (4) four suspects were arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail. The exact charges are bail are still pending completion of the booking process. Arrested subjects are:
Mark Noble (age 32 from Lincolnwood, Illinois)
Dontia Arrington (age 38 of Spokie, Illinois)
Talia Khio (age 41 of Roseville, California)
Roddy Johnson (age 29 of San Diego, California)

Two additional suspects are still outstanding. They were described as speaking a foreign language during the robbery. These two suspects were originally described as “middle eastern” males and were possibly speaking Armenian during the robbery.

Based upon evidence collected and information obtained at the multiple scenes, this robbery appears to have been an organized pre-planned crime.

One robbery victim was transported to Mark Twain Hospital in San Andreas with severe injuries. He was later transported to a hospital outside of the area.

There were six victims in this case. The victims in this case were reportedly bound, threatened and in some cases individual victims were beaten and tortured with a taser and received death threats.

The suspects were booked on multiple charges of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robberies, assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery with great bodily injury, kidnapping, false imprisonment and torture. Due to the death of one of the subjects, the Sheriff’s Office will be reviewing potential homicide charges with the District Attorney’s Office.
