Gang member arrested with a loaded firearm by Major Crimes Task Force

Narrative:
On Saturday June 23, 2018, around 5:30 PM, members of the Pomona Police Department's Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) and the Department of Corrections Crisis Response Team (CDCCRT) were partnered up, and working a gang suppression detail within the City of Pomona. Officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop in the 2300 block of Belinda Av., of a known Pomona gang member for vehicle code violations. Suspect Franco failed to immediately yield to emergency lights however slowed his vehicle down as if he was going to stop. Suspect Franco then accelerated speed and immediately lost control of his vehicle where he collided into a parked vehicle.
Suspect Franco exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot. Franco climbed over fences and into the rear yards of residential homes. Officers began to chase Franco on foot as he was climbing over residential fences. As Franco climbed over a fence and jumped into a rear yard, he injured his knee while landing. He immediately surrendered only after tossing a loaded gun a few feet away from where he was injured. Franco was taken into custody without incident and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Franco was booked at the Pomona City Jail on the above-indicated charges.
Suspect Franco exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot. Franco climbed over fences and into the rear yards of residential homes. Officers began to chase Franco on foot as he was climbing over residential fences. As Franco climbed over a fence and jumped into a rear yard, he injured his knee while landing. He immediately surrendered only after tossing a loaded gun a few feet away from where he was injured. Franco was taken into custody without incident and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Franco was booked at the Pomona City Jail on the above-indicated charges.
