Suspect:
Narrative:
On Saturday June 23, 2018, around 4:00 PM, members of the Pomona Police Department's Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) and the Department of Corrections Crisis Response Team (CDCCRT) were partnered up, and working a gang suppression detail within the City of Pomona. Officers attempted to conduct a bicycle stop in the 700 block of W. Holt Av., of a known Pomona gang member for vehicle code violations. Suspect Martinez began fleeing on his bicycle actively evading officers. Suspect Martinez entered a nearby alley where he abandoned his bicycle and began fleeing on foot.
Martinez discarded a loaded firearm in the bushes where he abandoned his bicycle. Martinez climbed over fences and into the yards of residential homes. Officers were able to locate Martinez in a residential yard where he was taken into custody without incident.
Martinez was booked at the Pomona City Jail on the above-indicated charges.
