The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for... Northeastern Walker County in central Alabama... Southwestern Blount County in central Alabama... Northeastern Jefferson County in central Alabama...
* Until 1045 AM CDT.
* At 738 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Trussville, Gardendale, Sumiton, Dora, Center Point, Clay, Pinson, Adamsville, Warrior, Kimberly, Graysville, Morris, Brookside, Trafford, Sipsey, West Jefferson, County Line, Cardiff, Chalkville and Grayson Valley. Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
* AFFECTED AREAS: BLOUNT ... JEFFERSON
Instructions:
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
