Advisory

Fire Weather Watch 11 AM Saturday to 8 PM Sunday.

The National Weather Service issued a Fire Weather Watch for the North Bay mountains effective 11:00 a.m. Saturday through 8:00 p.m. Sunday.  See the attached map.

This alert was issued because of the high heat, wind speeds, and low humidity.  The Service warns that new fires will spread rapidly.

Please be cautious around sparks and flames outdoors during this time.  It's recommended that you mow your fields before 10:00 a.m., but never when it's windy or excessively dry.

We recommend you visit www.pge.com/wildfiresafety to learn about how and when PG&E would shut off power when extreme fire danger conditions exist.  PG&E has notified us they are not planning to shut off power at this time and are monitoring conditions 24/7.

Remind your friends and family to sign up for the Sheriff's Office Nixle alerts and SoCoAlert to receive emergency notifications.  You can also find information on our Facebook page (@sonoma.sheriff).
