...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO 8 PM PDT SATURDAY... The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Heat Advisory, which is in effect from noon Friday to 8 PM PDT Saturday.
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...102 to 106 degrees.
* TIMING...Beginning Friday afternoon and again Saturday afternoon through early evening. Temperatures will recover Friday night.
* IMPACTS...Health to elderly, pets, and livestock. Also, any outdoor activities or exposure on Friday and Saturday.
* AFFECTED AREAS: EAST-CENTRAL SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY ... SOUTHEASTERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY ... SOUTHWESTERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY ... WEST-CENTRAL SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The hot temperatures will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions the next few days. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 9 1 1.
