At around 3 o'clock in the morning on June 20th, Simi Valley Police Officers responded to a Burglary Alarm at Lens Crafters at the Simi Town Center. While some officers went to the business to check on the alarm, other officers positioned themselves along the likely routes of escape. On the 118 Freeway near the Yosemite Avenue exit, an officer located a suspect vehicle leaving the area. After stopping the vehicle, the officer located evidence linking the occupants to the burglary at Lens Crafters. The suspects were identified as Francisco Mena, 22, and Juan Cortez, 20, both of Los Angeles. Mena and Cortez were booked into Ventura County Jail on charges of Commercial Burglary and Conspiracy to commit a felony.

The stolen eyeglass frames, nearly 200 pairs, were returned to Lens Crafters.
