Gloucester Township Mayor David Mayer Announces Donation of Used Firefighting Equipment to Countries in Need

 Gloucester Township Mayor David Mayer, officials from the Gloucester Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the Chews Landing Fire Company, and the Blackwood Fire Company held a press conference earlier announcing the donation of used firefighting equipment to the 911 Fund, to be used by firefighters in disadvantaged nations who are in need of this life saving equipment. All of the donated equipment has been used by Gloucester Township firefighters, and has been replaced with safer and more modern equipment. Gloucester Township OEM will be donating eight (8) used Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), nine (9) SCBA air cylinders, and four (4) EMS backboards.

The Chews Landing Fire Company and Gloucester Township Fire District #2 will be donating six (6) sets of firefighter turnout gear, twelve (12) pair of firefighter boots, one hundred (100) Scott SCBA air masks, fifty-five (55) SCBA air cylinders, two (2) 5 inch hose adapters, one (1) air blower, one (1) rope rescue tool, and miscellaneous hand tools.

The Blackwood Fire Company and Gloucester Township Fire District #4 will be donating twelve (12) sets of firefighter turnout gear, thirty seven (37) used Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), and seventy (70) SCBA air cylinders.

The used equipment is being donated to the 911 Fund Inc. which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, formed and run by firefighters and emergency personnel. The mission of the 911 Fund Inc. is to provide donated equipment and training to firefighters and emergency personnel in disadvantaged nations, as part of a continuing effort to build preparedness, reduce risk, enhance civilian safety, and minimize property loss from fire and other types of disasters.
