* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Northeastern Calhoun County in east central Alabama...
Northeastern Etowah County in northeastern Alabama...
Southern Cherokee County in northeastern Alabama...
* Until 900 PM CDT.
* At 655 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Public reported nearly 1.5 inches of rain have
already fallen in parts of the advisory area.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Piedmont, Hokes Bluff, Centre, Forney, Tennala, Ballplay,
Slackland, Pleasant Gap, Moshat, Ball Flat, Eastern Weiss Lake,
Coloma, Spring Garden, Knightens Crossroads and Reaves.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
