Advisory

Areal Flood Advisory for central Calhoun County until 8:30 pm.

632 PM CDT SUN JUN 17 2018

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Central Calhoun County in east central Alabama...

* Until 830 PM CDT.

* At 632 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Anniston, Oxford, Jacksonville, Saks, Fort McClellan, Weaver, Blue
Mountain, Alexandria, Dearmanville and Choccolocco.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
