Alert citizens report a hit & run collision which results in an arrest for Felony DUI, Hit and Run & Manslaughter

DATE/TIME: June 15, 2018 9:51 p.m.

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Sterling Avenue, north of Baseline Rd.

SUSPECT: Miguel Angel Cazares-Osorio, 27 years old, resident of Highland

VICTIM: Name withheld pending notification of next of kin


SUMMARY:
On June 15, 2018 at 9:51 p.m. Miguel Cazares-Osorio was traveling southbound on Sterling Avenue, as the victim was crossing eastbound across Sterling. As the victim crossed the street, he was struck by the suspect who was driving a white Honda Civic. The victim died at the scene from his injuries. After the collision, Cazares-Osorio fled the scene but was apprehended shortly after due to observant witnesses following him and reporting it.

Deputies determined alcohol is a factor in the collision and Cazares-Osorio was booked into the Central Detention Center for Felony Drunk Driving, Felony Hit and Run, and Manslaughter.
