The City of Irwindale Warns Residents About the Dangers of Illegal Fireworks. Please Celebrate Safely!

As we near the Independence Day Holiday, the city of Irwindale and the Irwindale Police Department would like to remind our residents about our efforts to combat the use and sale of illegal and dangerous fireworks in our city. Our goal is to reduce property loss and injuries caused by illegal fireworks.

Please be reminded that Irwindale Municipal Code Section 8.16.20 prohibits the sale, offer to sell, or possession of dangerous fireworks within our city. Our police officers have been instructed to confiscate all illegal fireworks and turn them over to the Los Angeles County Fire Department for destruction. Aggravated situations may result in a citation and/or arrest.

We are asking our residents to have a good time with family, friends, and neighbors by enjoying safe and legal fireworks. We would like to remind the community that those fireworks which are not labeled as "Safe and Sane" and have not been purchased from a local fireworks stand, are ILLEGAL. Illegal fireworks are dangerous and have the potential of causing fires in our neighborhoods and causing serious injury.

Each year the city of Irwindale celebrates the 4th of July with a free fireworks show under the direction of pyrotechnic experts and the Los Angeles County Fire Department. All residents are invited to attend this free fireworks show and the enjoy a safe 4th of July.

We thank you for your cooperation as we celebrate this National Holiday as proud members of the Irwindale community.
