Theft Suspect Arrested

In the early morning hours of June 16, Simi Valley Police Officers responded to reports of a subject stealing items from vehicles in the 900 Block of Pacific Avenue. After the second call to the area, an officer saw a man running through the alleyway and over a fence into a nearby backyard. Assisting officers set up a containment in the area in an attempt to locate the suspect. Eventually, the suspect reappeared in the alley and attempted to run away from the officer again. However, he ran toward another officer on the containment and was taken into custody. The suspect was identified as Luis Gonzalez, 31, of Simi Valley. During a search of Gonzalez, the officers located possible stolen property. Additionally, in the area where Gonzalez was seen fleeing, the officers located additional stolen property from area residents. Gonzalez was arrested for theft and resisting arrest and booked into the Ventura County Jail. The investigation into additional thefts in the area will continue and may result in additional charges.

The Simi Valley Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind residents to lock their cars. Also, don't leave valuables in your vehicles, particularly not in plain sight.
