TRAFFIC ALERT - SATURDAY 06/16/2018 AT 10:15AM ILLINOIS ROUTE 47 @ GRUNDY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS

The Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run is coming to Morris on Saturday June 16th! Be prepared!!
If you are not involved in the event, you may want to avoid the north end of town tomorrow morning. At 10:15 am, northbound Route 47, at Granville Road (across from Saratoga School), will be closed. All northbound traffic will be diverted east on Granville Road to Ashley Road. This closure allows the motorcycles to leave the fairgrounds and go north on Route 47 to Route 52. They will then head west on Route 52 and make their way to Marseilles. Southbound Route 47 at Route 52 will be closed also.
Route 47 will reopen at around 11:30 am, or when all of the motorcycles have left the fairgrounds.
They are expecting between 2,500-3,500 motorcycles for the ride. The motels, restaurants and roads in Morris will be busy! We all hate traffic. But we wanted to get this information out to you ahead of time. When you know the reason for the traffic, it helps us be patient. The Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run started in 2003 and its mission is to celebrate the freedoms we are able to enjoy because of our fallen and Gold Star Families. This event helps to raise funds needed to maintain the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial in Marseilles. For this we can all slow down. #weremember
