Campbell PD has made an arrest in conjunction with the vandalisms of Comcast cables that caused over $10k worth of damage.

Campbell, CA - The Campbell Police Department has made an arrest in conjunction with the vandalisms of Comcast cables that caused over $10,000 worth of damage.

On April 28, 2018 and May 22, 2018, two separate felony vandalisms occurred in the area along the railroad tracks at Pollard Rd and Highway 85 in the City of Campbell. The suspect cut the fiber optic Comcast cables causing over $10,000 worth of damage. The suspect then fled the scene on foot or possibly on a black framed bicycle.

Campbell officers used surveillance photos obtained from the Comcast Investigations team to conduct further research to identify the suspected vandal. Based on their investigation, Campbell officers proactively patrolled the railroad tracks in the area and identified an encampment possibly belonging to the suspect.

On Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 3:00am, Campbell officers contacted Richard Bridge, 56 year old transient, who matched the description. Mr. Bridge was identified as the cable vandal and was placed under arrest. He was also determined to be on active probation for arson, in addition to having a warrant for drug related charges, and was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Investigators are currently working to determine if Mr. Bridge is responsible for various other cable vandalisms in the area. Anyone who has any information regarding this crime or any other is asked to call our 24-hour dispatch center at (408) 866-2101 or the Investigations Unit at (408) 871-5190.
