Crime Alert Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 06-04-18 at 9:11 a.m., Officer Williams was dispatched to the intersection of Accacia Street and Geneva Avenue on a report of an auto burglary that just occurred and that the victim was chasing the suspect. The victim told the officer that he was sitting in his vehicle working on his laptop. He said he put his computer bag on the passenger seat when the suspect broke the front passenger side window and reached inside to take the computer bag. The victim drove after the suspect and said the suspect eventually dropped the bag on Accacia Street. The victim described the suspect as a black male 17-18 years old, with a short afro hairstyle, wearing a dark sweatshirt, dark jeans and was carrying a backpack. Officers were unable to find the suspect in the area.

On Thursday, 06-07-18 at 1:02 a.m., Officer McCarthy conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle at Mission Street and Templeton Avenue. The officer contacted the driver and immediately smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person. Officer McCarthy also saw a small child seated in the right rear passenger seat without being in a child safety seat or seatbelt. The officer conducted several field sobriety tests and determined the subject was under the influence. The subject, a 29-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for driving under the influence and for child cruelty which possibly could cause injury or death. The child’s grandmother took custody of the two-year old child.

On Thursday, 06-07-18 at 2:05 a.m., Officer Hightower was on patrol on the 6200 block of Mission Street and observed a disturbance between a bus driver and a group of individuals. The officer spoke with one of the parties, a 29-year old San Francisco resident. The subject had a warrant for a narcotics violation, and he was arrested for the warrant, as well as for having heroin in his possession.

On Friday, 06-08-18 at 6:38 a.m., several officers were dispatched to the area of San Jose Avenue and Mission Street on a report of a stabbing that just occurred. The victim, a 21-year old Daly City resident, said he was walking eastbound on the south sidewalk on Shakespeare Street when he and a Hispanic male “shoulder bumped” each other. The victim said they began to argue, and then the suspect pulled out a knife. The victim began to talk to the suspect and asked him to just fight one-on-one. The victim said the suspect then made a quick phone call and then seconds after, three unknown males exited from a nearby house and attacked him. The victim was ultimately stabbed and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment. Detectives conducted an investigation and were ultimately able to identify and arrest the suspect, a 21-year old Daly City resident, for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

On Friday, 06-08-18 at 5:23 p.m., Officer Fulmore was dispatched to the area of Niantic Avenue and Westlake Avenue on a report of an auto burglary that just occurred. The anonymous caller said two subjects broke into a green Infiniti and possibly took change out of the vehicle. The caller gave a description to the dispatchers and advised the males were walking on Niantic Avenue. Officer Fulmore stopped two subjects matching the description and asked them to sit on the curb and said he would explain his reason for contacting them. Sergeant Reyes and Lt. Rolfes arrived to assist, and they determined the two subjects were responsible for the burglary. The first suspect, a 16-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for auto burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of burglary tools, receiving stolen property, and for committing an adult offense by a juvenile. Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. Please note: the City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
