Media Reminder - Press Conference today at 10 am at GBPD reference Prevea Health donation for Narcan

MEDIA REMINDER - Press Conference Scheduled Thursday June 14 at 10 am

The Green Bay Police Department and Prevea Health will be holding a joint Press Conference on Thursday, June 14, at approximately 10 AM in the Training Center of the Green Bay Police Department, located at 307 South Adams Street. All media are invited and encourage to attend. Chief Andrew Smith and Prevea Health President and CEO, Dr. Ashok Rai, will speak about a recent donation that Prevea Health has made to the Green Bay Police Department to Purchase 300 doses of Narcan and additional Tactical Medical Kits for officers. Narcan is an emergency nasal spray that reverses the life-threatening effects of an opioid overdose.

The Prevea Health donation comes at a time when many communities across the nation are fighting and epidemic of opioid overdoses. The Police Department started distributing Narcan to about 125 of its Patrol Officers in September of 2015. Since then, the Department has been involved in approximately 45 Narcan deployments. With the generous donation, the Department will be able to distribute Narcan to all of its officers, and train them how to use it.

Prevea Health’s generous donation will also help purchase additional tactical medical kits that officers carry in case of severe trauma injuries.

Chief Smith, and the members of the Police Department, would like to thank Prevea Health and especially Dr. Rai, for partnering with them to make the Green Bay community safer for all!

There will be Narcan and Medical kits on display at the press conference for b-roll and photographic opportunities.
