PPIS Systems Operator 2 – Bethlehem Township

The Bethlehem Township Physical Plant Division (PPIS) will be accepting resumes for the position of System Operator 2 from now through June 29th 2018. Individuals selected to be interviewed will be required to complete an application, and provide a photocopy upon presentation of a valid drivers license. 

The PPIS Division is responsible for maintaining the public sanitary sewer system, all municipally owned "physical building" structures, and provides facility support for the following systems; electrical, electronic and electrical equipment, all telecommunications and data networks, traffic control signals and devises, mechanical (plumbing), HVAC, lighting and janitorial. 

The classification requires the ability to have a general working understanding of; mechanical systems, and underground pipeline facilities. Preferred is a basic understanding of telecommunications and date network infrastructure with an acceptable comprehension level of basic electrical theory, display a technical and mechanical aptitude, including but not limited to; electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, map, diagram and schematics reading. Applicants must be 18 years of age, possess a valid PA State driver’s license and the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing. The Township will provide complete training. 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Class B CDL, including; tanker and HAZMAT endorsement within six (6) months of employment, as well as a PADEP Class E Operators license within one (1) year of employment. Additional certifications and training will be required in order to perform various assigned tasks; including but not limited to; PADOT traffic safety operations, OSHA confined spaces entry and overhead operations, as well as obtain American Red Cross CPR and AED certification. Job related training is required and continuing education is encouraged, offered under the terms of the collective bargaining unit contract. 

This position is subject to contractual terms between Bethlehem Township and the AFSCME collective bargaining unit contract. The position will include mandatory on-call after one year (or sooner determined by management).
