Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting of a male Hispanic adult that occurred in the 1100 block of Peck Road in the city of South El Monte.

On Monday, June 04, 2018 at about 1:45 a.m in the morning, Temple Station deputies responded to the location regarding a shots fired, gunshot victim call.  Upon arriving, they discovered a single victim down at the scene.  The victim was suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to a nearby hospital.

The victim and a companion entered the gas station/mini-market to purchase various items from inside the convenience store.  The victim had a brief conversation with a Hispanic male while inside.  Upon leaving the store, the victim approached the same male’s car while the male was pumping gas.  The victim was then shot by a passenger inside the car.  The male pumping gas entered the car and fled along with the shooter inside the car.  There is no description of the shooter suspect.

The suspect vehicle is described as a gray hatchback.

The weapon was not recovered at the scene.

This shooting appears to be gang-related.

The victim is listed in grave condition and here is no additional information to report at this time. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
