**CORRECTION*  The Montebello Transit bus stabbing victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital on June 10, 2018 and not on May 10, 2018 as previously reported.


Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detectives are continuing their investigation into the stabbing assault that occurred in the 5700 Block of Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles on April 9, 2018, at approximately 10:13 A.M. 

The suspect identified as Manuel Ortiz male Hispanic 23, booking number, 5282298 was arrested for the assault on April 12, 2018 at approximately 3 A.M.  His bail was originally set at 1.35 million dollars for the charge of attempted murder. 

On June 10, 2018, the victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.  Based on the death the suspect’s charges will be amended to Murder in the First Degree, and his bail will be set for 2 million.
