DNA Test results for Wolf Hybrid

The Green Bay Police Department has been working with the Wisconsin Department of Natural resources since May 17th to determine the DNA tests of the confiscated animal. In the investigation, Humane Officer Mallory Meves was informed by family members of the dog’s owner that the animal was a wolf-hybrid. Though the owner contradicted this information, we had to error on the side that the animal was in deed a wolf hybrid.

Working with the Department of Natural Resources, DNA tests were completed and determined that neither the dog that bit the victim on May 17th nor the other two dogs that were confiscated days after the incident were wolf hybrids.

All three dogs have been returned to the owner and we are requesting the citation for keeping an exotic animal to be dismissed. The owner was told to apply for an excess animal permit as only two dogs are permitted per family dwelling. We want to thank the community for their patience during this investigation.
