On June 5th, 2018 at 4:10 pm an alert employee of the City of Fairfield reported a subject acting bizarre in a van parked directly behind the police department.  The employee had a brief conversation with the subject who claimed he was being followed by several individuals who were trying to harm him. 

Officers contacted the male in the driveway near the rear door of the police department.  The male was identified as Jose Vasquez, a 36 year old male Fairfield resident.  While officers were speaking with Vasquez, they observed suspected narcotics inside of a small baggie sitting on top of the center console of his vehicle. 

Due to the suspected narcotics in plain view,  officers conducted a search of the vehicle which yielded a loaded Glock .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine loaded with 26 rounds of ammunition.  Vasquez  was also found to have two loaded .22 caliber semi-auto handguns, an unloaded 1911 .45 caliber handgun and a .223 semi-automatic AR-15 style assault rifle with a 40 round magazine installed.  Vasquez also possessed 40 rounds of .223 ammunition.  Vasquez has numerous prior contacts with Fairfield Police Department and prior gang related violent felony convictions.  

We always encourage citizens to partner with the Fairfield Police Department and report suspicious activity.  This is a prime example which resulted in the seizure of illegal narcotics and five illegally possessed weapons being taken off the streets.
