The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

June 5th

0647 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated a non-injury vehicle verses fire hydrant accident on the 39900 block of Cedar Boulevard.

1114 Hours: Officer Cervantes investigated the attempted theft of vehicle at Dosa and Curry Café, 39742 Cedar Boulevard.

1233 Hours: Officer Losier responded to a disturbance at Fire Station 2, 35775 Ruschin Drive. A 40-year-old transient female was contacted and arrested for disorderly conduct / being under the influence of alcohol and probation violation. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1342 Hours: Officer Wilkerson investigated the theft of a wallet from an un-locked vehicle on the 8500 block of Mahogany Place.

1858 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated a non-injury vehicle collision into a tree on the 8300 block of Central Avenue.

2052 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated an auto burglary at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, 5699 Mowry Avenue. The loss was a laptop computer.

2352 Hours: Officer Riddles contacted and arrested a 19-year-old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license during a routine traffic stop on Baine Avenue at Magnolia Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
