Auto burglary suspects arrested in Emeryville yesterday

On 06/04/2018, the Emeryville Police Department conducted an operation to deter and prevent auto burglaries in the City. The operation consisted of uniformed and plain clothed officers patrolling the City and monitoring areas where vehicle break-ins have occurred recently.

At about 7:15 pm, the officers were patrolling the Chevy’s parking lot at 1890 Powell St., when they observed a suspicious vehicle in the lot with several people inside. While the officers were in the parking lot, an individual from the suspicious vehicle broke the window of another vehicle and removed property from that vehicle. The suspect got back into the suspicious vehicle and fled the scene. Officers stopped the vehicle near Point Emery and detained all three occupants of the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle broken into was found and confirmed the property located in the possession of the three detained, was inside his vehicle in the Chevy’s parking lot.

The three subjects detained were arrested for charges including vehicle burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property and one of the suspects arrested had an outstanding warrant. All the suspects were booking into the Alameda County Jail.

The Emeryville Police Department and its staff are committed to increasing the safety of the City and preventing crimes like these. As always, “If you see something, say something.”
