SVPD Officers responded to a 911 call from a cell phone in the area of Los Angeles Ave. and Williams St. SVPD Communications heard a female crying and the sound of a male subject taking the phone away from the female caller. When Sgt. McAlister arrived at the scene, he observed 42-year-old, Ermer Munar, preventing his wife from walking away from him. During this time, several other officers arrived on scene and Munar was detained without incident.
Upon further investigation, officers determined that Munar picked his wife up from a friend's residence in Los Angeles County. As they were driving to Simi Valley, they had a verbal dispute. Munar's wife asked him to stop the vehicle so she could get out. She exited the vehicle and they continued to argue.
Munar eventually forced her back into the vehicle and continued to drive to Simi Valley. Munar assaulted her and attempted to force her out of his car while he was driving on the 118 Freeway. When they arrived at their residence, she exited the vehicle, attempted to flee the area, and dialed 911 on her cell phone. Munar took the mobile phone away from her and Sgt. McAlister arrived on scene a short time later.
Ermer was arrested for the following charges: 207 PC-Kidnapping, 236 PC-False Imprisonment, 243(e)(1) PC-Domestic Battery, and 591.5 PC.-Obstruct the Use of Wireless Communication Device.
Ermer was booked at East County Jail.
