Advisory

PD Wife to the Rescue

On 06-01-18, at approximately 3 PM, the Angels Camp PD responded to a call for service at Utica Park. A person visiting the park reported finding a baby owl, and requested assistance with relocating it.

The Angels Camp Police Department takes pride in providing professional police services to the community, and that includes responding to calls that may be out of the norm for most police departments. Once our highly skilled and well trained officer was on scene and assessed the situation, he did what any professional police officer would do...he called his wife.

A PD wife responded to the scene and took control, transporting the owlet to a local wild animal rescue, "Motherlode Wildlife Care." Motherlode Wildlife Care is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is permitted through both the CA and US Department of Fish and Wildlife, and their volunteers have the required training to ensure that wildlife in need receives the best possible care so that the wildlife has the best chance possible of being released back into the appropriate natural habitat. Motherlode Wildlife Care is based in Tuolumne County, and they are open from 8 AM to 8 PM, 7 days per week. Their phone number is 209-677-7249, and their website is www.mlwild.org. They can be reached by email at [email protected]. They are actively seeking reliable volunteers and donations.
