THREE ARRESTED FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Incident #1:
Report Number: 18-2585
Occurred Date : June 2, 2018
Occurred Time: 12:15 AM
Location: East Washington Street at Payran Street
Suspect: Alexander Campoy, 26 year old, Petaluma resident
DUI Enforcement Officer Robert Sutherland stopped a vehicle whose registration was expired. The driver Alexander Campoy displayed objective signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Officer Sutherland who is trained as a Drug Recognition Expert suspected Campoy was under the influence of marijuana and cocaine. Campoy was arrested for 23152(f) VC; Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. A search of Campoy’s vehicle revealed approximately 26 grams of cocaine. Campoy was also arrested for 11350(a) HS; Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Location: Taco Bell Parking Lot
Suspect: Scott Burchell, 43 year old, Petaluma resident
Officers responded to the parking lot of Taco Bell after employees called to report a collision which had occurred in the drive through. Officers contacted Scott Burchell in his vehicle. Burchell had collided with the vehicle in front of him. Burchell exhibited signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol content was measured at .29%. Burchell was arrested for 23152(b); Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. No one was injured in the collision.

Location: 1700 block of Andover Way
Suspect: David Renteria, 23 year old, Rohnert Park resident
Officers responded to the 1700 block of Andover Way on a report of a vehicle which collided into a house. Upon arrival they observed David Renteria had driven through a side yard fence and into a storage shed on the side of the house. Renteria exhibited signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol content was measured at .09%. Renteria was arrested for 23152(b); Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. No one was injured in the collision.
The most recent statistics published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicate in 2016 there were 10,497 fatalities nationwide related to alcohol impaired driving. The Petaluma Police Department would like to remind the community not to drink and drive.
