Press Release: Shoplifter

ACCUSED: Carl M. Driver Jr. 27-year-old Male // Neptune Twp., NJ
NARRATIVE:
On May 29th at approximately 12:24pm police responded to a report of a male shoplifter who fled the Sears Department Store. A description was provided and officers were unable to initially locate him in the general area. Detective Michael Legg expanded the search and spotted the suspect in Asbury Park.
As other officers responded to Legg’s location they attempted to stop the suspect while he was traveling on a bicycle. The suspect fled into a backyard and ultimately eluded police on foot. Property belonging to Sears was recovered and Legg was able to identify the suspect as, Carl Driver Jr.
Further investigation led to criminal complaints for shoplifting, obstruction and resisting arrest. He was entered as a wanted person and arrested later this same day by officers from the Monmouth County Sherriff’s Department. He was processed and transported to the county jail pending his initial court appearance.
