A resident reported a scammer calling identifying herself as an Ashland police officer “Smith”. They are telling residents that they need to pay an outstanding fine or they will be arrested.

This is NOT APD and we do not call anyone asking for payments or any other information like this.

APD reminds residents to be vigilant against these and other phone scams and not give out any personal information or make payment arrangements over the phone or internet unless you have verified the other party is legitimate.
